Updating the U3 Launchpad for Windows Vista Support

Follow the below instructions to update your U3 Launchpad from v1.0.0.8 or v1.0.5.17 to v1.4.0.2 with Windows® Vista™ Support. This version also supports Windows 2000™ (SP4) and Windows XP™ (SP2).

Save the 'U3 Launchpad Updater' file to your desktop by right-clicking on the file and saving.

Please Note: The third-party software programs bundled with the Memorex U3 Mini TravelDrive may require their own updates in order to function properly with Windows Vista and the Vista-compatible U3 Launchpad. Please check the U3 website at www.u3.com for full details.

Before Upgrading the U3 Launchpad: It is highly recommended that you manually back up any files/data from your the Memorex U3 Mini TravelDrive onto your local hard drive prior to starting the update process.

Instructions for Updating the U3 Launchpad for Windows Vista:

1. Your Memorex U3 Mini TravelDrive MUST be connected to your computer's USB port before you can proceed with updating the U3 Launchpad. Click the following link U3 LaunchPad v1.4.0.2 Updater.exe to launch the U3 Launchpad Updater.

2. Read the End-User License Agreement, click on "Accept," then click on "Next". If you choose to select "Decline" the installation process will be stopped without installing the update.

3. Please take a moment to read these IMPORTANT notes, then click on "Next".

4. Next, the installer will automatically compress and back up the contents of your drive on your local hard drive. For this step to occur, you will be asked to create a temporary password. All files/data on your Memorex U3 Mini TravelDrive will be compressed to one folder, saved and copied inside the My Documents folder on your computer system. This folder and its contents will later be automatically extracted and restored back to your Memorex U3 Mini TravelDrive.

When prompted, please type your password and re-type it to confirm, as shown on the screenshots below. Click on "Next" to start updating your U3 Launchpad.

Warning: Do NOT remove the Memorex U3 Mini TravelDrive while updating the U3 Launchpad. On the Memorex Mini TravelDrive, as with most flash drives, a blinking LED light indicates that the drive is in use. Removing the drive during these operations may permanently damage your drive and may corrupt your files.

5. Once the update process has been successfully completed, you must remove and re-insert your Memorex U3 Mini TravelDrive into your computer's USB port.

6. The contents of your drive will be automatically extracted from the compressed file on your hard drive and restored to your flash drive, and you will be prompted to enter your temporary password to complete this process.

Verify the U3 Launchpad version

Once the update process has been successfully completed, you may verify your U3 Launchpad version by selecting "Help" and "Support" on the main menu of the Launchpad. Inside the drop-down menu, choose "About U3 Smart Drive".
