Labelflash Anatomy

A standard DVD features a polycarbonate surface, where an adhesive label can be affixed or special markers can be used to label the disc. Labelflash DVDs are different. With Labelflash media, a specially developed dye layer is placed below the protective polycarbonate surface during the manufacturing process. This dye reacts with the light generated by the laser in your Labelflash enabled DVD recorder. The result is a high-resolution, laser-etched design that lends a professional and customized look to your DVD.

Image area is 0.6mm below the surface protected by a layer of polycarbonate. Specialized imaging dye is designed to provide excellent durability and light fastness.

Standard DVD

On standard DVD media, adhesive labels are applied to the top polycarbonate layer, offering no protection to your custom label design.
